The Committee

The Chaos Committee are your Student body of people to look after all your Physics needs, to give you the best experience at Bristol. This Year's committee is made up of a wacky bunch, chosen by last year's physicists.

Meet the Team!

Alex

President - Alex B

Hello!! I'm the President of CHAOS and it is my job to chair committee meetings, make sure the society is running smoothly and help with organising events. You will see me around physics when I'm not playing Ultimate Frisbee and can be found at lunchtimes in physbar eating far too much chocolate.

Sophie

Vice President - Sophie

Hi, my name is Sophie and I am the Vice President of CHAOS. As VP my main job is to run Physbar so that you can buy drinks and snacks at the cheapest prices around! Physbar is also where you can come to find out all the information you need about any upcoming CHAOS events, so drop by if you have any questions! Hope to see you all there xxx

Rosie

Treasurer - Rosie

My name's Rosie and I've got big hair,
On your Chaos Committee I'm in charge of your welfare,
I'm your treasurer too, so in charge of all the cash,
Which we like to spend on a big physics lash!

Sean is in charge of welfare too,
The both of us are here to take care of you,
So if you find it hard and think you're going to flunk,
Just get in touch with us and we'll get you really drunk.

Once you've joined up and given your money to me,
You'll be a member of the Uni's greatest society.
We're really looking forward to you joining the school,
So we can show you while you're here that Physicists rule!!

Ball Reps - Rachel, Sean and Steph

Hi you lucky new FRESHERS! We are Sean, Steph and Rachel, and we are your very enthusiastic Ball Reps for 2011-20012. We are all 3rd year Physicists and are astronomically optimistic that the Physic Ball (or maybe evens Balls) will be a galactic success this year! They are always pretty awesome, with many exciting thing including Liquid Nitrogen Ice-cream served by our famous 'penguin-loving' professor - you'll recognise him, he's the one always wearing a penguin related t-shirt. We are excited to meet you. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas for our Ball. And if you have any questions about ANYTHING we are happy to help. Good Luck in first year, see you in freshers week!! Love your Ball Reps xxx

Social Reps - Joe and Angus

Alex

Joe

As possibly the least capable chemical-physicist Bristol has ever seen (who miraculously passed all his first year exams) Joe thought it would be a good idea to join the Chaos committee. No-one really knows why. Luckily he is one of the two socialites organising our bar crawls etc, something he has proven time and again that he has more than enough experience with (the crawling part, not so much with the organising). We're not sure Joe's going to survive the year, but we're hoping that you'll get the most out of him before he expires from liver failure.

Angus

Angus

The second of the two ents reps, Angus is the epitome of lovable giant. You can't help but find everything he does funny in one way or another. As far as organising bar crawls etc, he's basically just a pretty face and a barrel of laughs. As a big lad you might have thought he would be able to hold his drink? You’d be very wrong indeed. You're going to want to come to the socials simply for the entertainment of finding out what sort of mess this Goliath ends up in each night…

Trips Rep - Alex D

Hello, my name is Alex and it is my job to organise the chaos trips, the highlight of which should be the visit to CERN over the winter along with an opportunity to go skiing in the Alps. I am also the officer for UKSEDS (UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) where my role is to liaise between chaos and the national organisation.

Talks Rep Matt

Hello! I'm Matt, and shall be your Talks Rep for 2011/12. Throughout the coming year, CHAOS will arrange to put on talks, given by Lecturers and Guest Speakers, dealing with current topics in Physics not really covered in normal lectures; Highlights last year include a talk by Sir Michael Berry, and of course Professor Peter Barham, and his science of Molecular Gastronomy. Sports Rep - Jamie

If you wanna play sport,
Get in touch with me,
To the 2011 cohort,
My name is Jamie!

We want to see all of you,
So you better be prepared,
For an afternoon or two,
To forget about E=mc2,

I'll be in contact,
and I really insist,
That we all make a pact,
To play sport with a physicist!

Webmaster - Andy

I'm Andy the master of the web,
I make all on the Chaos site,
I get the info in your head,
I will update at the speed of light,

If you need a talk,
With a real dork,
It's am0695@bris.ac.uk,
I hope this poem hasn't ruined your day.
