Physics parenting

The Physics department is a very friendly (and fun) department and hopefully you'll settle in no time, but just incase Chaos is here to help you with this - we've recently taken over organising the parenting (aka mentor) scheme.

Freshers

When you start at Bristol in October you will be assigned a physics family consisting of two physics parents from 2nd/3rd/4th year and usually about 6-9 fresher sibilings. There will probably be a lunchtime social (with free lunch) for you to meet your family in Week 1. This is a great chance for you to ask any questions - whether it's about the course or the city - and get to know other students.
Your parents are there to help you settle in and are a useful source of advice. They will check up on you over the course of the year and may even take you to the pub or cook for you!

Parents

If you'd like to be a parent (or for more info), please email Sophie or Taylor, the Chaos Welfare people.

Welfare help

If you have any issues or problems, not matter how big or small, don't suffer in silence - your physics parents, the Chaos welfare officer, your tutor (or if you prefer, Dr Barham the department Senior Tutor) and the Students' Union are all here to help.

If your problem is more to do with an aspect of the course, you can contact your year reps who liase with the department through Staff-Student Committee. Their names and email addresses are on the department SSC page.
